I knew I wanted to give back in someway, but I hadn't a clue how or the way I was going to do it. Two of my biggest concerns for our community was teen bullying and the environment. I saw how my work with beauty and body image was connected to bullying, in what capacity I was unsure. I saw that natural beauty products were connected to my work but it was nearly impossible to find a natural makeup line that could be used on all the skin tones that I may come across in my work.
Last month, I was attending a "Ladies Night Out." at Wholistic Wisdom which we learned about essential oils. I knew about these oils, but had no interest in them. I just thought they were perfumes for lifting your spirits. I was presently surprised of all the oils health, beauty and home cleansing properties along with attitude changing qualities as well. It was my answer! Essential oils are environmentally sound choices for house cleaning, insecticide, herbicide, fungicide, curing and preventing disease, and is super healthy for your skin, in fact it's the only wise choice in skin care....all this and more! People are spending 57 Billion dollars a year on skin care and beauty products that most are manufactured with toxic chemicals. We are purchasing 50 Billion dollars a year of household cleaning products. One of the biggest concerns I have with the sale and use of these types of products is its correlation to the rise of Autism. Studies now show the herbicide, Round up being prevalent in breast milk today and is the single direct cause of Autism. If I told you there was a cheaper, easier, non toxic way to kill plants wouldn't you do your share just by making a different choice in the product you use and in turn you get to make a huge difference in your world, wouldn't you do it?
So with that said, I am now studying everything there is to know about essential oils, enjoying making my skin more healthy and young, cleaning my house without using harsh chemicals and keeping my family healthy. Thank you to Diane Kensler and Wholistic Wisdom for waking me up to the world of essential oils, you and your staff offer something deep and very special to your community.
The second window I want to devote my time seeing through is bullying....I will talk about this next time.
